RRB ALP CEN 01/2026: Apply Online for Assistant Loco Pilot 11,127 Posts

Railway Recruitment Boards have issued Detailed Centralised Employment Notice CEN No. 01/2026 for Assistant Loco Pilot recruitment. Online applications are open from 15 May 2026 to 14 June 2026, 23:59 hours, for 11,127 ALP vacancies across participating RRBs and railway zones.

Age Limit
18 to 30 years as on 01 July 2026. Date of birth should be between 02 July 1996 and 01 July 2008 for UR/EWS, with relaxation for OBC (NCL), SC/ST, Ex-servicemen, railway staff, widowed/divorced/judicially separated female candidates, and eligible apprentices as per the CEN.

How To Apply

  1. Open the official RRB website listed in the CEN or go to rrbapply.gov.in.
  2. Create an RRB account if you have not already created one for recent RRB CENs.
  3. Use the same account credentials if you already created an account for CENs notified in 2024/2025.
  4. Choose only one RRB carefully; chosen RRB cannot be changed after submission.
  5. Fill the ALP CEN 01/2026 online application with correct personal, qualification, category, and railway zone preference details.
  6. Complete live photograph capture, upload running-handwriting signature, and upload SC/ST certificate if claiming free travel pass.
  7. Pay the examination fee online before 16 June 2026, 23:59 hours.
  8. Use the modification window from 17 June 2026 to 26 June 2026 only for permitted corrections; Create Account details and chosen RRB cannot be modified.

Photo And Signature Requirements

  • Live photograph is captured inside the application module; candidates are not required to upload a pre-existing photo.
  • Use non-white clothing, preferably dark colours, and keep the camera at eye level.
  • Do not wear cap, mask, glasses, or spectacles during live photo capture.
  • Do not capture a printed or digital old photograph; such applications are liable to be rejected.
  • Signature must be in running handwriting with black ink on white paper.
  • Signature file must be JPG/JPEG, 30 KB to 49 KB, minimum 140 x 60 pixels, scanned at minimum 100 DPI.

Exam Day Requirements

  • E-call letter will be available from official RRB websites about 4 days before CBT/CBAT; exam city intimation is expected about 10 days before the exam.
  • No e-call letter will be sent by post.
  • Carry e-call letter, valid original photo ID, and a recent colour passport photograph to CBT/CBAT/DV/ME as applicable.
  • SC/ST candidates using free travel authority must carry original community certificate during travel.
  • Candidates shortlisted for DV must produce original documents with two sets of self-attested photocopies.
  • During CBAT, candidates must submit the ALP self-screening medical declaration reports as prescribed in Annexure-VIIIA and Annexure-VIIIB.

Eligibility And Selection

Qualification: Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized NCVT/SCVT institutions in listed trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic Radio & TV, Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic Diesel, Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic; or Matriculation / SSLC plus completed Act Apprenticeship in those trades; or Matriculation / SSLC plus 3-year Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile Engineering or combination of those streams. Engineering degree in those disciplines is acceptable in lieu of diploma.

  • First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-1).
  • Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-2), with candidates shortlisted RRB-wise at about 15 times the vacancies.
  • Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), with candidates shortlisted at about 8 times the ALP vacancies for each notified category.
  • Document Verification.
  • Medical Examination with A-1 medical standard.
  • Final merit is prepared RRB-wise from candidates qualifying CBAT, using CBT-2 Part-A and CBAT scores in 50:50 weightage.

Exam Pattern

  • CBT-1: 60 minutes, 75 questions, 75 marks. CBT-1 is only for screening and its marks are not counted for the final panel.
  • CBT-1 subjects include Mathematics, Mental Ability, and General Science at 10th standard level.
  • CBT-1 qualifying marks: UR/EWS 40%, OBC (NCL) 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%.
  • CBT-2 has Part-A and Part-B, total 2 hours 30 minutes and 175 questions.
  • CBT-2 Part-A: 90 minutes, 100 questions. Part-A marks are used for further shortlisting.
  • CBT-2 Part-B: 60 minutes, 75 questions. Part-B is qualifying only and requires 35% for all candidates.
  • CBT-2 Part-A subjects include Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and Basic Science and Engineering.
  • Negative marking: one-third mark for each wrong answer in CBT-1 and CBT-2.
  • CBAT is in English and Hindi only, has no negative marking, and requires minimum T-score of 42 in each test battery.
  • Final merit uses CBT-2 Part-A and CBAT scores in 50:50 weightage.

  • The last date to submit the online application is 14 June 2026, 23:59 hours.
  • Fee payment for submitted applications closes on 16 June 2026, 23:59 hours.
  • Multiple applications to different RRBs or the same RRB will lead to rejection and debarment.
  • The post of ALP has strict A-1 medical standards; candidates who underwent LASIK or other corrective eye surgery are not eligible.
  • Questions for CBT-1 and CBT-2 are available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages as selected in the application. CBAT is only in English and Hindi.
  • Candidates must keep their registered mobile number and email ID active throughout the recruitment process.
  • RRB warns candidates to use official RRB websites only and ignore fake notices or job promises.
