Which CTET Paper Should You Choose?
- Paper-I: for candidates intending to teach Classes I to V.
- Paper-II: for candidates intending to teach Classes VI to VIII.
- Both papers: required for candidates intending to teach both Classes I to V and Classes VI to VIII.
- CTET is an eligibility test only; qualifying it does not itself guarantee recruitment or employment.
Quick Facts
- CTET is conducted by CBSE.
- Paper-I is for Classes I to V.
- Paper-II is for Classes VI to VIII.
- There is no negative marking.
- CTET certificate validity is lifetime.
- Qualifying CTET does not guarantee a teaching job.
Exam Pattern
- All questions are MCQs. Each question carries one mark.
- There is no negative marking.
- Paper-I has 150 MCQs for 150 marks and covers Child Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Language I, and Language II.
- Paper-II has 150 MCQs for 150 marks and covers Child Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Science, Language I, and Language II.
- Paper-II morning shift is 09:30 AM to 12:00 Noon. Paper-I evening shift is 02:30 PM to 05:00 PM.
- Each paper duration is 2 hours 30 minutes.
How Application Works
- Open ctet.nic.in and read the latest CTET information bulletin before applying.
- Use the official CTET September 2026 apply link for online registration.
- Fill the application form with personal, contact, address, paper, language, and qualification details.
- Upload latest scanned photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG format as per bulletin size limits.
- Pay the examination fee online through debit card, credit card, or net banking.
- Download and keep the confirmation page for future reference.
- Download the e-admit card from CTET website before the exam and check official updates regularly.
Important Messages
- Apply only through ctet.nic.in, cbse.gov.in, or the official CTET application portal.
- The public notice says there is no option to select exam city; CBSE allots exam city randomly.
- Correction is allowed only during the official correction window and no offline correction is accepted.
- Fee once paid is not refunded or adjusted for a future test.
- If the number of candidates increases, CTET September 2026 may also be conducted on 05 September 2026.
